Parents Under Siege
Martha Foley: What IS it about some kids? Why does ONE teenager run into trouble time after time, when his or her siblings don’t? Why do kids make bad choices, just when parents think they’re doing the best they can to love, support, and encourage them? From kindergarten to college, a new school year brings kids new challenges, renewed problems. From bullying to binge-drinking. Dr. James Garbarino is recognized as a leading authority on child development and youth violence. His books include "Lost Boys: Why Our Sons Turn Violent and How We Can Save Them". And, "Parents Under Siege: Why You Are the Solution, Not the Problem in Your Chld’s Life". He speaks to St. Lawrence University classes today, and in a public presentation in the Canton Central School auditorium tonight at 7.
