December 9, 2010K-12 Tax & Spending Climate: 2010 Madison Property Tax Bills OnlineCity of Madison 2010 property tax bills can be viewed at the City Assessor's office website and via Access Dane.. Taxes are up, significantly. The increases depend, to some extent on property assessments (if the assessed value declines, tax rates generally increase more to compensate for the reduced tax base and support spending growth), but a quick look reveals City of Madison and Dane County taxes are up in the 6% range, MATC over 10% and the Madison School District in the 9% range. Much more on the Madison School District's 2010-2011 budget, here. Two Madison School Board seats will be on the April, 2011 spring election ballot. They are currently occupied by Ed Hughes and Marj Passman. I presume they are both seeking re-election, but I've not seen an announcement to that effect.
