What Districts Spend on Student-Centered LearningCenter on Reinventing Public Education via a kind Deb Britt email: In an effort to raise student performance, a growing number of schools are embracing the principles of student-centered learning (SCL)--an approach that espouses personalized, authentic instruction and takes learning beyond the typical school schedule and calendar. Given the interest in SCL and concerns about spending, researchers from the Center on Reinventing Public Education at the University of Washington and from the School of Public Affairs and Administration at Rutgers University-Newark, with funding from the Nellie Mae Education Foundation, conducted comparative case studies of seven public high schools in six states.
