October 9, 2013Wisconsin Senate Proposal would let charter schools rise independent of districtsDarling's proposed amendment to Senate Bill 76 would allow the University of Wisconsin System two- and four-year campuses, as well as technical colleges and regional state entities known as Cooperative Educational Services Agencies, to approve charter schools to operate independent of school districts. It would also allow independent charter schools performing 10% higher in achievement than their local districts for two years in a row to automatically add new campuses. And it would allow charter schools that do not employ district staff to opt out of the state's new educator evaluation system.Posted by Jim Zellmer at October 9, 2013 12:26 AM Subscribe to this site via RSS/Atom: Newsletter signup | Send us your ideas Comments
