Notes on Mississippi’s reading progress amidst Wisconsin’s decline
Mississippi passed a literacy act in 2013 that requires 3rd-graders to pass a reading test before they can move up a grade. Students have multiple chances to pass the test and those who fail the first two tries can have access to summer reading camps and other resources.
